Kannan Vijayadharan
University of Padova
Kannan Vijayadharan (citizenship: India) graduated from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2021. He was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree in Photonic Integrated Circuits, Sensors and Networks (PIXNET), jointly by Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy).
His specialization is in Integrated Photonics, and his main interest lies in the area of photonic hardware for quantum information processing, quantum machine learning, and quantum computing.
Kannan Vijayadharan conducted his thesis “Design and Simulation of a Continuous Variable Quantum Sensing Platform” under the supervision of Dr. Johannes Borregaard (QuTech, TU Delft) and Dr. Patty Stabile (TU Eindhoven). During this theoretical project, he explored the potential of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices and variational quantum algorithms to optimise multiparameter quantum sensing tasks. He also collaborates with Technical University of Denmark on the experimental realization of the same.
With a diverse background in electrical engineering, robotics and theoretical physics, Kannan Vijayadharan enjoys engaging in interdisciplinary research overlapping engineering and physics. During the course of his studies, he was also actively involved in the organization of various technical events, TED talks, and volunteering activities.
In his spare time, Kannan enjoys playing the guitar, writing poetry, and literature. He is also an avid enthusiast of penmanship and calligraphy.
Currently, Kannan Vijayadharan is working on the AppQInfo project “Exploitation of entanglement in quantum networks” towards experimental exploitation of entanglement in quantum networks, as a member of the QuantumFuture research group in the Department of Information Engineering at University of Padova, supervised by Professors Guiseppe Vallone and Paolo Villoresi.
